United Way Truck Pull and Much More on October 12

Could you pull a big truck filled with Northfield area leaders? Probably not, by yourself. But if we pull together with a clear goal in mind, Northfield Area United Way believes we can move just about anything – or anyone – forward.

Celebrate the power of pulling together

Northfield Area United Way invites the public to help celebrate the power of pulling together with a community Truck Pull. The event will take place at Northfield’s Bridge Square starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 12. KYMN radio’s Jeff Johnson will emcee.

Teams will try to pull a giant Dokmo Ford truck filled with Northfield-area leaders over the Fourth Street bridge. The team pulling the fastest will win. The United Way Truck Pull is sponsored by Dokmo Ford-Chrysler, which is providing the truck.

Area leaders invited

Leaders already confirmed to appear include Northfield Mayor Rhonda Pownell, City Administrator Ben Martig, and Northfield’s Director of Library and IT Services, Teresa Jensen. Leaders from all areas served by the Northfield Area United Way have been invited to participate, including officials from Dundas, Dennison, Lonsdale, Kilkenny, Montgomery and Webster.

Form a team!

Teams that want to compete to pull the truck are forming now. If you would like to field a 6-to-8-person team, contact the Northfield Area United Way, 507-664-3510 or connect@northfieldunitedway.org. The number of teams is limited, so register your team as soon as possible.

Free cookies, apples and cider – and downtown deals

The public is invited to cheer on teams and enjoy free cookies, apples and cider. Just Food Co-op is donating the apples – thank you, Just Food!

Other downtown businesses will support the event with some special deals, which will be posted during the Truck Pull and are listed below.

AND we are very excited to announce that Imminent Brewing will donate 10% of their sales that evening to Northfield Area United Way!
