Penny comes to us after 12 years at Neuger Communications Group, where she worked with many of the firm’s nonprofit clients. A Northfield resident since 1990, Penny has raised three children here and has been active in the community.
She currently serves on the boards of Just Food Co-op and River Bend Nature Center and was a longtime member of the board of Northfield Healthy Community Initiative (HCI). She also served on the boards of Children’s Culture Connection and Nerstrand Elementary School, a K-5 charter school.
“The Northfield Area United Way is really excited about having Penny as our new executive director,” says board chair Helene Haapala. “Her background and training are a great fit for us, plus, being a local resident, she has a good understanding of our local community and many of the partner agencies we work with. Welcome aboard, Penny!”
Penny says, “I’m honored and excited to work with the Northfield Area United Way! I look forward to strengthening collaborations with local businesses, individuals and our partner agencies to address our community’s most pressing needs and make a real difference in people’s lives.”
